A finish worth a closer look
Four details to look for when choosing a repaint, from the overall colour treatment to the character of the brushwork.
Bold colour, sharp contrast
Strong colour contrasts and graphic shadows give the sculpt a striking 2D appearance. Our Dragon Ball figure repaints use carefully placed light and dark areas to define the muscles, armour and clothing. Look closely at how the colour boundaries follow the shape of the character.
Character in every detail
A figure’s expression depends on small decisions around the eyes, face and clothing. Controlled linework helps separate these features and keeps the character readable up close. These details deserve as much attention as the overall pose when you compare a hand-painted anime figure.

How we create the 2D finish
Follow the studio workflow from surface preparation to the finished piece.
Step 1
Prepare the surface
We clean and prepare the figure before applying primer. A well-prepared surface gives the paint a consistent base and helps the finished colours stand out.
Step 2
Build the anime look
We apply the colour layers, map the shading and add the finer lines. Explore our figure display guide for ideas on presenting the finished piece.
Step 3
Protect and inspect
Once the painting is complete, we apply a protective finish and inspect the details. We then photograph your repaint so you can review it before dispatch.

How long will my repaint take?
Production takes approximately 50 business days. Delivery starts after dispatch: free standard delivery is estimated at 15–20 business days, or choose priority courier delivery for £24.99, estimated at 8–12 business days. Priority courier delivery does not shorten production time. Dispatch follows photo approval and payment of any remaining balance. See our Shipping Policy.
Do you ship worldwide?
Yes. We offer free worldwide standard shipping with tracking. Import duties and local taxes may apply and are the buyer’s responsibility. See our shipping policy for delivery estimates and priority options.
Can I return a repainted figure?
Return and cancellation terms depend on whether your order is genuinely personalised or a standard product. Photo approval does not remove rights for faults, damage or goods that are not as described. Read our Refund and Returns Policy or FAQs before ordering.
What if I need to cancel?
Contact us as soon as possible with your order number. Cancellation conditions depend on the payment option and whether work has started. The details are set out in our refund policy.
The figures and the finish
Can I request a different character or finish?
Yes. Send your character, figure details and reference images to info@2dfigurepainting.com. We’ll review what’s possible and provide a quote before you commit.
What creates the 2D effect?
We use acrylic paints to build graphic shadows, highlights and bold outlines directly onto the sculpt. These painted details give a three-dimensional figure an anime-inspired, cel-shaded appearance.
What if my figure arrives damaged?
Email info@2dfigurepainting.com promptly, ideally within 48 hours, with your order number and photographs of the figure and packaging. This helps the investigation; it does not shorten your statutory rights. See our Refund and Returns Policy.
Who paints my figure?
We’re a UK-based figure repainting studio working with artists in Poland, Brazil and Vietnam. Each repaint is painted by hand, so individual brushwork and small variations are part of the finished piece.
